The UFC has promoted a welterweight bout between Paulo Thiago (11-1) and Jacob Volkmann (10-0) to the main card of this weekends UFC 106 event in Las Vegas this Saturday. Take it for what you will, but the Telegraph.co.uk had an interesting blurb concerning UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy(who is more than likely the number 1 contender). The Telegraph also understands that the UFC may be considering offering coaching places to the pair for the next series of The Ultimate Fighter. The irony in that is that Hardy has just bought a flat in his native town of Nottingham with his American girlfriend, who lives in LA and works in the fashion industry, planning to move to the UK. Hardy had spent the last few years living in LA, between returning for training camps.

Ben Rothwell Looks To Upset Cain Velasquez At UFC 104

Rothwell has gone 14-1 in his past fifteen fights and 1-1 in his past two. That loss was against Andrei Arlovski at the “Affliction: Banned” event. Rothwell admits the loss was one of his worst performances and attributes that defeat to a momentary lapse. The UFC 104 fight will be the first for Rothwell under the UFC banner, something he has worked to do for years. “The goal of my career was to get to the UFC, but not just get there — dominate there and finish my career there. UFC UK president Marshall Zelaznik has confirmed a fight between Mike “Quick” Swick (14-2) and Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (22-6-0(1)) for UFC 105. The winner will go on to fight UFC welterweight champion George St-Pierre for the belt. UFC 105 will take place at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England on Nov. 14. The event will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between mma legend Randy Couture and Brandon Vera. Don Frye, well known UFC and Pride Championships MMA fighter, will once again enter the ring, this time taking on Ikuhisa Minowa in the main event at Deep: Gladiators. The event takes place on August 16th at the Momotaro ARena in Okayama, Japan. Frye is very popular amongst Japanese fans, and he comes in having won three of his last four fights.
