Heath Herring’s Thoughts On Brock Lesnar

Heath Herring is only 30 years of age but has tremendous experience in the world of MMA. A recent change of conditioning coaches, and a victory over Cheick Kongo are certainly part of the reason Herring thinks he can pull off the victory over his upcoming opponent, Brock Lesnar. UFC 87 is less than a week away, and the co-main event fight between the two will certainly put one of them in a better position to become the #1 contender for the UFC Heavyweight belt. MMA Mania recently did an interview with Herring, and here’s his take on Lesnar:

Yeah, I think that’s what he’s going to try to do. I’ve got a lot of ring experience. I’ve never really had anybody finish me quickly in a fight. I’ve had huge guys come at me, I’ve had better wrestlers than him come at me, I’ve had bigger wrestlers … He’s not really bringing anything to the table that I haven’t seen.

I’ll be honest, I’d rather be on this side of the fence than on his side of the fence. So I’m feeling pretty confident going into this deal — and not to be overconfident or arrogant in any way. You definitely gotta respect his size and the ability that he has.

I really just don’t see him being able to finish me in any way, other than I think the best shot he’s got at winning this fight is the lay-n-pray, trying to hold me down and just eek out a point decision.
