Frank Shamrock’s last fight was easily a contender for fight of the year, as he and opponent Cung Le put on a striking show which mma fans in and out of the arena enjoyed. Unfortunately Shamrock broke his arm and was unable to continue after the third round intermission, and as a result had to have surgery to help fix the damage. While Shamrock was initially unsure of when he would be able to return to the ring, it seems he’s ready to go. Here’s the quote:
“I just came back from getting a bone density scan in my arm - I am cleared for combat so Cung Le, Scott Smith, Robbie Lawler, Kimbo Slice - whoever’s been eating their Wheaties better get ready.”
Frank Shamrock is as much a master marketer as he is an excellent fighter, and he has once again gone on the record and said that he’d like to fight Ken Shamrock, his adopted brother, as soon as possible, and still like to get one more fight in by the end of the year. While new mma fans may dismiss Frank as an older, no longer relevant fighter, the truth is that Shamrock is still extrememly popular, is still has a good level of fighting skill, and can promote himself better than almost anybody in the game. Add to the record drawing power he has in San Jose with Strikeforce, and the name recognition that comes with “Shamrock” and you have a fighter that will be wanted by both Strikeforce and EliteXC, and it’s very possible that in the future we’ll see Shamrock on a CBS card, perhaps even fighting his brother Ken. I never understood why Strikeforce would have Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante on the undercard. The assumption was that they wanted him to fight Sobral for the 205 title and having him fight off of TV didn't make a lot of sense for a promotion that needs to build stars. However, all reports poin...
