World Victory Road has canceled it’s New Years Eve event, titled “Sengoku Raiden Championships” with little explanation fueling rumors that the promotion may seek to join the DREAM/FEG’s Dynamite!! 2009 show on December 31.

Rumors persist that WVR is at the end of it’s rope due to poor economic times and the failure to secure sufficient ratings with fans.

The DREAM/Fighting Entertainment Group hybrid MMA/K-1 mixed fight event could benefit greatly by co-promoting with WVR to secure great ratings for their year end event. With the debut of heavyweight Satoshi Ishii’s canceled as part of the Sengoku show, the K-1 Premium Dynamite!! event could greatly benefit from Ishii’s presence on the card as fans await the debut of one of the most coveted free-agents in recent memory.

In other related news, the expected bout between the “Super Hulk” tournament finalists, Ikuhisa “Minowaman” Minowa (43-30-8) and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (7-5), as well as a K-1 bout between Masato Kobayashi (54-6-2) and fellow two-time K-1 World MAX champion Andy Souwer (134-8) were announced for the December 31st show.

The event is will take place on Dec. 31 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and will be broadcast in North America on HDNet.
