3.20 Cold Snap
The best episode of seasons 2 and 3 combined. Guess who wrote it?
Remember this will be a SPOILER review.
How delicious was that? Some might say, how can one man have the power to give us a decent Heroes episode? Well Bryan Fuller has, we all hoped when he returned he would deliver the type of episodes he gave us during the first season. Cold Snap was a wonderful sight to see, great camerawork, sharp dialogue and wonderful set pieces. There’s not much else to want from an episode.
We got the reveal of Rebel and it was what most people had guessed, it was Micah. This was certainly confirmed when the actor’s name was in the starting credits. Micah is now a bit more powerful than he used to be and has grown up, physically and mentally.
Micah helps rescue Tracy from Building 23 and she “sacrifices” herself to help Micah escape. The scene in the car park was so beautifully shot and executed. Though the question to ask, is Tracy really dead? Is Ali Larter done with the show? There is another triplet out there somewhere, so I guess she could play an entirely different character again but I don’t think that’s the case. I feel that Tracy is still alive. Once she melts, she’ll probably form back, T-1000 style.
The other death of the episode was Daphne’s. I ranted earlier in the volume when she died but was glad to find out she survived but I’m not going to rant again because if a character dies, all I want is that they get a good send off. Matt uses his power to try and give her a fairy tale ending and while it was cheesy and a bit reminiscent of Superman, I thought it was a beautiful scene. Once Matt started to fly, it was pretty obvious what was going on though it was a nice send off to a character I liked a lot.
The hilarous adventures of Hiro and Ando continue when they try to save Matt’s child. The wonderfully inspired ET scene had me roaring with laughter. Matt’s child has a power too, he’s a “Toddler Touch and Go” and restores Hiro’s powers of sort. Hiro can stop time but can’t teleport and probably can’t go forward or backward in time as well.
I am not delusional that one man can save this show though Fuller brings quality which has been lacking for so long. It’s a good start and they need him to write most of the episodes of next season. If Heroes want’s to stay on the air past the fourth season then it needs decent writers like Fuller.
Quote of the episode: Hiro “He’s a Toddler Touch and Go.”
Favourite Scene: Ice to see you SWAT guys.

The trailer looks fantastic. The film is directed by Steve Shill, his first feature film, but he has a lengthy resume directing episodes of some of the best television shows; and is written by David Loughery. If the film can live up to its preview, this film could be as good, if not better than t...
